The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting in the Wickenburg area Saturday evening.

YCSO says a man was riding quads with his son in an area near recreational shooters, and according to his wife, he stopped to go to the bathroom and heard a volley of gunshots, then was hit by a bullet in the stomach. Local ranchers helped get the man to the hospital, where he underwent surgery, and was later reported to be in stable condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
