Young girl injured in OHV crash north of Lake Pleasant

A young girl was injured in an off-highway vehicle crash in southern Yavapai County last Thursday.
According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, the girl’s father told responding deputies he was driving a side-by-side quad with his daughter and son in the Castle Hot Springs area, north of Lake Pleasant, when they went around a corner and had to swerve to avoid a rock in the road. The vehicle hit an embankment then rolled onto its side, and his 9-year-old daughter’s arm was trapped underneath and broken.
The father was able to move the vehicle off of her, and applied a tourniquet. A passerby texted 911; and while deputies were en route to the scene they requested help from a closer emergency agency, which turned out to be Peoria Fire. The father drove his children in his truck to meet fire personnel; and the girl was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital for treatment. Her brother was also examined for reported abdominal pain.
