The Prescott National Forest advises the public to expect temporary trail closures along the Waterline Trail, northwest of Prescott, in the near future, as APS rebuilds an electrical line in the area.

The line runs through Spence Basin to the community of Highland Pines, and generally follows the Waterline Trail. Crews are currently digging post holes and hauling materials; and once they start setting poles and stringing the electrical lines in coming weeks, sections of the trail will need to be closed for public safety. The Forest and APS will alert the public via social media when the closures are scheduled to occur.

Trail users should expect large truck and equipment traffic along Iron Springs Road and the railroad-grade portion of the Javelina Trail through July. Give them plenty of space; and do not assume drivers or operators can see you.
