February 1, 2024

A part-owner of a Prescott asphalt company was arrested Tuesday, as part of a fraud investigation.

According to the Prescott Police Department, between January 2022 and August 2023 Anderson Asphalt Service and Contracting was paid to perform work they never completed; and the company was also accused of not paying subcontractors for work that they did.

Investigators reportedly found forged documents that were used as part of the scheme, which cost the victims about $30,000.One owner of the company was arrested on fraud, forgery and criminal impersonation charges; and the County Attorney’s Office is reviewing whether charges are warranted against the other owner.

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors assisted with the investigation; and the company’s license was revoked last April.
