FEMA opens 90-day appeal period for Munds Park-area flood maps

February 9, 2024

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently opened a 90-day public appeal period for the latest update to Flood Insurance Rate Maps for the Munds Park area.

The maps are used to evaluate flood insurance and building requirements; and the County hosted online and in-person informational open houses on the matter last fall.

Residents who disagree with the evaluation of their property can file an appeal, which requires scientific analysis and evidence showing how the map is incorrect, until April 23rd. Once all appeals and comments are addressed, the maps will likely take effect early next year.

You can view the maps, along with instructions on how to file an appeal, at coconino.az.gov/3143.
