Cottonwood PD cleans up 1 ton of trash from Blowout Wash

Trash covers the Blowout Wash area in Cottonwood, prior to a cleanup

February 26, 2024

Cottonwood Police Department personnel completed a cleanup of the Blowout Wash area, near Mingus Avenue and Airport Road, on Friday.

Officers were assisted by citizens completing mandated community service; and they removed about one ton of trash, improving the condition of the land, and reducing potential health and safety risks.

The Police Department says the area is frequented by homeless individuals, and they have identified some of the people responsible for illegally leaving trash in the area. They will charge the suspects with illegal dumping once they are located.

The Department encourages community members who find other areas that need attention to contact Outreach Service Officer James Repp via email, at JREPP@Cottonwoodaz.gov with as many details as possible.
