The Prescott National Forest and Bureau of Land Management will host a public meeting on Wednesday, February 28, about a proposal to protect over 3,700 acres of Forest land along the Hassayampa River.

The request for protection would prohibit new mining, oil and gas, and geothermal development in the area for 20 years; in order to protect sensitive wildlife species along the river corridor, including the threatened Mexican spotted owl.

Wednesday’s meeting will be held at the Prescott Public Library, beginning at 6:00 p.m., and you can find a news release with more details on the Forest’s website.
