Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Homeland Security agents arrested a New Mexico man Tuesday, who allegedly drove to the Prescott area for a sexual encounter with an underage girl.

According to YCSO, the 54-year-old man had sent explicit photos and audio files of himself to a 14-year-old over the past week, and reportedly sought her out because of her age. Detectives verified that the suspect made a reservation at a Prescott motel to meet the girl, and they were waiting there to arrest him when he tried to check in.

The man was charged with Aggravated Luring of a Minor for Sexual Exploitation and Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor; and investigators learned he has previous convictions for similar crimes.
