Yavapai County Jeep Posse rescues stranded motorists on snowy Senator Highway

February 6, 2024

The Yavapai County Jeep Posse rescued multiple stranded motorists on snowy Senator Highway last Saturday night.

Officials say the Posse was called to assist a Prescott Valley couple stuck in a Subaru; and found them cold, but unharmed, and drove them home.

While on that call, Posse members also came across two men stuck in the snow in the middle of the road, in a lifted 4x4 pickup truck. They helped dig out the truck, and the men went on their way.

These incidents illustrate that even capable vehicles can get stuck in poor conditions, so if you are traveling through higher elevations and cannot delay your trip, always let someone know where you are going and what time you should arrive; and pack food, water, extra clothing and a blanket, even if you don’t think you’ll need them.

The Jeep Posse notes that due to liability issues, their focus is on rescuing people, not vehicles, so they cannot tow stranded vehicles, or even pull them out of snow or ditches.
