The City of Prescott says they are confident the recent fuel spill at a Chino Valley gas station will not affect the water quality of the City’s wells in the area.

In a message to the City Council, utilities officials said their Chino Well #4 was the closest to the spill, at over a mile away; and because the spill was near ground level, the probability that it will affect the well’s aquifer is very low.

The city will be participating in the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s post-spill well testing program.
