A Prescott man faces charges including weapons misconduct and drug possession, after he reportedly fired a gun inside his apartment on Willow Creek Road Wednesday evening.

According to the Prescott Police Department, a man called 9-1-1 and asked for a police response, then hung up; and when a dispatcher called him back, the man said he had shot and killed two people that had come into his apartment and tried to take his baby.

When officers arrived at the scene the man came out of his apartment holding a gun, and refused to comply with their commands, eventually going back inside, against their orders. As officers approached the front door the man came back out, still noncompliant, and police were able to subdue him after a brief struggle.

Officers entered the apartment and searched for the two reported victims and the baby, but there was no one inside. They did find a handgun on a counter, with two spent casings on the floor, and bullet holes in the walls, including one wall shared with an adjoining apartment.

They also found a container with multiple baggies of hallucinogenic Psilocybin mushrooms, next to a bottle of whiskey.

Emergency crews took the 52-year-old man to the hospital, and due to preexisting injuries, he was later transferred to the Phoenix area. Officials determined that no one had been injured by the suspect’s gunshots.
