Chino Valley crash leaves two dead

February 6, 2024

A collision in Chino Valley left two local residents dead on Saturday afternoon.

Chino Valley Police say a car driven by 72-year-old Saundra Deiley was travelling west on Road 3 South, and came to a stop at State Route 89, before attempting a left turn. Deiley apparently did not see an oncoming northbound SUV, which hit the driver’s side of her car.

She and her passenger, 85-year-old Richard Deiley sustained critical injuries, and both later died at area hospitals. A woman and two small children who were in the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say that excessive speed or impairment do not appear to have been factors.
