AZ's newest State Park, Rockin' River Ranch, opens in Camp Verde

February 9, 2024

Arizona’s newest State Park is now open in Camp Verde, after more than 15 years of planning and delays.

Arizona State Parks and Trails originally purchased the land for Rockin’ River Ranch, at the confluence of West Clear Creek and the Verde River, in 2008, due to its location and native fish and wildlife habitat.

However, there was not enough funding to develop and operate the site until 2017; and the park was finally supposed to open the following year, but was further delayed by construction issues, cost increases and turnover within State Parks leadership.

Rockin’ River Ranch State Park offers multi-use trails, picnicking and wildlife observation opportunities, and will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm, with a cost of $7 per vehicle.
