The Prescott National Forest advises the public that the annual multi-agency Basin Operation Drill will involve multiple training fires near Groom Creek, south of Prescott, this weekend.

Pending favorable conditions, fire managers will ignite three to six small fires over Friday and Saturday, with smoke visible in the immediate area, including the Whispering Pines Camp, Senator Highway, and nearby forest roads.

The drill will include local, state and federal fire and emergency agencies; as well as several volunteer organizations.
