Winter Storm Warning issued for Flagstaff/Mogollon Rim

February 5, 2024

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Flagstaff area and Mogollon Rim, from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.

Snow levels will start around 7,000 feet, then could drop to 5,000 feet Wednesday, with breezy winds topping out between 30 and 40 miles per hour.Drivers should expect hazardous to nearly-impossible travel conditions in the higher elevations. You can check highway conditions at az511.gov, or by calling 511; and consider delaying trips in the higher elevations if you can. If you must travel, keep your gas tank as full as possible, and take food, water and blankets with you.

Officials say there will also be a second system extending showers through Saturday; with normally-dry washes and low-water crossings filling by mid-week; and increasing water levels in creeks and streams. Remember to never try to cross a flooded roadway, on foot or in a vehicle.
