Tavasci Marsh at Tuzigoot NM to reopen after 2023 fire

February 2, 2024

Nearly a year after a wildfire burned over 100 acres of the Tavasci Marsh, at Tuzigoot National Monument, the marsh area will reopen to the public on Monday.

Crews have been removing hazardous trees from along public trails; and officials advise visitors that a portion of the trail on the southeast side of the marsh will remain closed for the time being, due to needed repairs on the overlook.

Violation of the closure area could result in a citation or fine.
