The Prescott Fire Department put out a garage fire at a home in the Haisley Homestead neighborhood last Friday.

Officials say that when crews arrived, the flames were beginning to extend into a living area above the garage. They quickly knocked down the fire, but had to deal with numerous items stored inside the garage, which continued to smolder. They also had to contend with a leak involving about five gallons of flammable liquid fuel.

No one was hurt, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Fire Department reminds everyone to only store flammable liquids in approved containers, and away from anything that could start a fire. And make sure your home has functioning smoke detectors that are less than 10 years old.
