Camp Verde Marshals Office seeing rise in fentanyl-related incidents

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office is asking their community to help combat a rising trend in fentanyl-related incidents.
In a recent press release, CVMO described five incidents that occurred within two days in late January, showing that drugs do not discriminate when it comes to changing lives.
On January 25th, deputies caught a woman smoking fentanyl inside her vehicle, with her 6-year-old child in the car. They also found 200 pills and more than a gram and a half of methamphetamine in her possession.
That evening, a citizen reported what looked like a drug deal, and when deputies arrived, they deployed a K9, who alerted to the odor of drugs on one suspect’s vehicle. A subsequent search revealed over 750 fentanyl pills, along with meth, and three people were arrested.
The same day, CVMO was called to a fentanyl overdose, which resulted in a man being taken to the hospital after a family member administered Narcan, likely saving his life.
The following day, deputies responded to an overdosed woman; and although they used Narcan and performed CPR, the woman died.
Deputies were also called to a crash on General Crook Trail, near I-17, and the driver reportedly admitted to taking fentanyl. He was booked into jail for DUI drugs, among other charges.
