Gary Every is Sedona’s first official Poet Laureate (appointed May 13, 2025). A Sedona resident since 2004, he’s spent two decades shaping the local literary scene—hosting poetry salons at Well Red Coyote bookstore for 12 years and leading a weekly “Poetry and Prose” radio program on Mellow Mountain Radio (KAZM). A celebrated speculative poet, he’s been nominated for the Rhysling Award seven times. His work frequently highlights the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Verde Valley, and while he's published fiction, he is best known for his genre‑blending poetry.
