SUV fire on I-17 sends one to hospital

One person was hospitalized after their vehicle caught fire on Interstate 17 late Monday night.


According to Copper Canyon Fire & Medical, crews were called to the General Crook Trail exit around 11:45 p.m. and found the vehicle’s single occupant with serious burn injuries. The patient was airlifted to a burn center; as firefighters put out the blaze.


There was no indication about the cause of the fire.
